Ingredients

1 cup brown rice
2 cups water
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
Instructions
Rinse brown rice thoroughly in a fine mesh strainer.
Bring 2 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
Add rice and salt, reduce heat to low, and cover with a lid.
Simmer for 45 minutes until all water is absorbed.
Remove from heat and let it rest covered for 10 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and serve.
Notes
You can soak the rice for 30 minutes beforehand for extra tenderness.
Use broth instead of water for added flavor.
